Maize Farmers Association of Nigeria secure $41.2m from Central Bank of Nigeria | FI SENSE


Central Bank of Nigeria has allocated $41.2 million to the Maize Farmers Association of Nigeria for the 2020/2021 planting season.

This capital injection became necessary after a government ban on the importation of maize in order to boost local production. The government reasons that local boost in local productions of maize will help stimulate a rapid economic recovery, safeguard rural livelihoods and increase jobs especially during this coronavirus crises.

Dr Bello Abubakar National President, MFAN approves the ban on importation of the maize and said the funds secured will be distributed within a network of over 40,000 maize farmers in the form fertilizers, seeds, and agro-chemicals.
