South Korean pension fund invest $200m into Actis Energy Fund | FI SENSE

South Korean National Pension Service (NPS) has committed an amount between US$100 million and US$200 million to Actis Energy 5, an energy and infrastructure fund set up by UK-based private equity firm Actis LLP to invest in Africa, India, and Latin America.

The energy and infrastructure fund will be directed towards renewable energy projects such as wind and solar power. The recipient countries of this funds will be expected to provide guarantees for the investments given the risk in these regardless of the huge growth potential

Actis Energy 5, the investment company’s fifth green energy infrastructure fund, garnered US$2.9 billion in the first round. The fund had investments from about 20 institutional investors, including the Employees Retirement System of Texas and Denmark’s Industriens Pension. Actis’ target for the fund is to raise US$4 billion in total.

As of 2020, Actis has US$12 billion of assets under management.
