Turkish-German meditation startup, Meditopia that provides bespoke mindfulness services to users has raised US$15 million in a series A funding round.
The round of funding was co-led by venture capital firm Creandum and Highland Europe.
The startup founded in 2015 by Berk Yilmaz, Fatih Celebi, & Ali Murat in Turkey now has double headquarters, one in Istanbul and another in Berlin.
Meditopia boasts to have 14 million users since its platform official became operational in 2017. The app features near 3,000 pieces of meditation content available in 10 languages.
Meditopia argues that “most meditation and mental health apps were built and written to largely suit the needs of English-speaking, Western groups, making them less useful for other demographics from different cultures and countries. Meditopia believes that cultural differences in the way topics like sexuality are perceived around the world, mean that mental wellness services should provide resources or approaches that are designed for that culture.”
Carl Fritjofsson, a Partner at Creandum and Fergal Mullen a founding Partner at Highland Europe will be joining the board of Meditopia to steer the affairs of the company.
